Passes are on sale now for the virtual event being held July 16 – 23, 2021
TORONTO, ON — (June 28, 2021) – WebSeries Canada announced today that passes are officially available for this year’s T.O. WebFest. Being held online for the second year in a row, T.O. Webfest is a multi-day festival that connects, promotes and celebrates independent content creators from Canada and around the world. Focusing on digital content creation, the festival will feature panels and workshops, special events, awards, web series screenings from July 1st – 31st via Filmocracy.com, and much more.
“Some of the most innovative content creators are coming out of the web series world. If you want to see the future filmmakers and showrunners of tomorrow, T.O. Webfest is the best place to meet these creators and to see their work firsthand,” said Rodney V. Smith, of WebSeries Canada. “Canada has one of the largest and most active web series communities in the world, and we’re proud to showcase their work alongside some of the best international content.”
New to this year’s festival is Spark Equity presented by CMF (Canada Media Fund) @ T.O. Webfest. This fund has been established to ensure that cost is not a barrier for any under-represented industry professional to participate in T.O. WebFest. Over 50% of the applicants were accepted by the panel of judges to be official selections of this year’s festival. These selections will be showcased with their own virtual gala during the festival’s opening weekend, July 16-18. Categories for this year’s festival include comedy, drama, family content & musical, horror & thriller, sci-fi & fantasy, low budget and documentary & lifestyle. The full list of official selections in this year’s festival is here.
Panels will include prominent industry guests from ACTRA, CMF, Directors Guild of Canada, Ontario Creates and additional funding agencies and distributors.
