Thousands Attend World Yoga Day in Brampton

Biggest Event of its Kind in Canada

Brampton, June 21 2016 – Thousands of people attended the second annual International Day of Yoga at the Brampton Soccer Centre over the weekend. It was a day packed with more than 30 performances over 12 hours. The family fun including Yoga sessions and demonstrations, musical and drama performances, food, health, wellness and other shopping stalls. The evening ended with an energetic Yoga Rave.

The event, which took place on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Brampton Soccer Centre, the biggest International Day of Yoga event in Canada was organized by the Art of Living GTA Centre and supported by prominent Real Estate Development Company SJ71 Ltd. Art Of Living offers courses to promote stress free living.

” The ancient science of well being that encompasses the body, mind and spirit has proven to be more than just a fad. Instead, millions of people can speak first hand to the benefits yoga has on their health” said Anju Malhotra, Mississauga realtor with Re/Max and the program director, International Day Of Yoga Festival. “We want to bring yoga to the whole world said Anju Malhotra who is also a singer and the founder of International Women Association

Consul General Dinesh Bhatia and Brampton City Councilor Gurpreet Dhillon kicked the event off with opening ceremonies. Brampton Mayor Linda Jeffrey, local MPPs Jagmeet Singh and Harinder Malhi, MPs Ruby Sahota, Sonia Sidhu and Ramesh Sangha also attended throughout the day.

The UN General Assembly proclaimed June 21st as the International Day of Yoga in 2014, with 175 nations co-sponsoring the resolution – the highest number for any such General Assembly resolution ever. This year the International Day of Yoga will be marked for the second time.
