Toronto, On – Social Worker and Therapist Amy de Nobriga launches “The Walking Therapist,” making mental health care approachable, adaptable, and supportive for all. The Walking Therapist is a modern, innovative counselling service offering therapy in a way that integrates seamlessly into clients’ daily lives. This person-centered approach provides therapy sessions while walking, in the comfort of your home, or via video chat, making mental health support more accessible and flexible than traditional office-based therapy.
Walking therapy sessions combine light exercise with counseling, allowing clients to process emotions and thoughts while moving with a therapist by their side. This unique approach encourages a sense of ease, incorporating therapeutic support into a client’s routine at school, work, or home. Therapy is designed to be non-judgmental, anti-oppressive, and easy to integrate into daily life.
For those interested, The Walking Therapist allows the use of insurance benefits for sessions. Depending on the insurance provider, direct billing options may be available, making the service more convenient and accessible.
Key Benefits of Walking Therapy:
- Stress reduction: Walking can help relieve tension, improve circulation, and lower blood pressure
- Enhanced therapeutic relationship: Walking alongside the therapist can build a feeling of equality and parity between the two
- Easier to open up: Walking can make talking about problems feel more natural and relaxed
- Metaphor for progress: The physical movement of walking can be a metaphor for progress in therapy
“I’m dedicated to creating a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings. Walking alongside you, I’m here to help you navigate life’s challenges with compassion and care.” Amy de Nobriga, MSW, RSW
