TORONTO (August 1, 2017):Tamil Fest, which celebrates the richness and diversity of Tamil Canadian arts, culture, cuisine, and entertainment within the Canadian landscape, will be kicking off with an opening ceremony on Saturday, August 26, 2017 in Markham Road (between McNicoll Ave. and Passmore Ave), Toronto.
Tamil Fest 2017 is the largest Tamil street festival of its kind outside of the Indian subcontinent. Last year crowds exceeded 150, 000 attendees and this year they anticipate a larger number. This two-day festival is expected to draw thousands of people from across North America and is a unique platform to showcase and exhibit traditional and modern Tamil culture, cuisine, arts and entertainment.
Entertaining activities for all ages will be present. Explore the variety of Tamil cuisine with over 20 food vendors. The entertaining acts will highlight the amazing local Tamil talent that exists in Toronto and abroad. Entertaining acts will fill the main stage throughout the duration of the festival.
Amusement rides and a dedicated youth and children zone will have interactive exhibits highlighting various aspects of Tamil culture.
Chronicling the unique story of the Tamil community in Canada, the Tamil Canadian Mobile Museum will be a historic exhibit highlighting the Tamil Canadian story from the 1960s to present time. Explore and celebrate the history of the community in this unique and interactive exhibit. Featuring many interactive exhibits aimed at youth and children to educate everyone on various aspects of Tamil culture and history. Check out these interactive exhibits and learn about the ancient culture.
