Toronto (22 January, 2018): Panorama India, with the support of the Consulate General of India, Toronto, held its 9th Annual Panorama India Idol auditions on January 21st at Michael Power/St. Joseph High School in Etobicoke.
Panorama India Idol is a free event for the community to showcase their talent and is celebrated as part of the Panorama India Republic Day Cultural Festival.
The day began at 9:30am with participants lining up to confirm their registration. Participants could compete in either the Junior Category – Ages 8-16 or Adult/Senior Category – Age 17+. Each contestant was evaluated on a standard 10-point criterion, by an expert panel of judges which consisted of Manoshi Chatterjee, Rajendra Dixit and Ramneek Singh.
After the first round only 8 semi-finalists were selected for each category. Toronto Mayor, John Tory, attended the event and addressed the crowd. He showed his support to all Idol participants particularly by staying to watch all the Junior contestants.
Three semi-finalists were chosen for each category after the second round:
JUNIOR: Madhurie Dhanrajh, Jiya Khurana, Aditya Matkar
ADULT: Oindrila Das, Abhinav Raghupati, Ravindra Yedery
The event lasted for 7 hours. Boxed savouries were offered to everyone present.
Panorama India Chair, Anu Srivastava thanked the present Idol Sponsor, SBI Canada and ATN for their continued support.
The Panorama India Idol Grand Finale will take place on February 11th at Pearson Convention Centre, Brampton at Panorama India Republic Day Cultural Festival.
