Toronto, ON – August 18, 2024: Nathan Phillips Square was transformed into a vibrant celebration of Indian culture as Panorama India hosted 78th Indian independence day and its annual India Day parade, marking the organization’s 25th anniversary. Despite forecasted thunderstorms, a massive crowd gathered to showcase the diversity and unity of the Indian diaspora.
The event commenced with an opening ceremony, featuring the flag hoisting and national anthems of Canada and India sung by 200 children. Dignitaries, including Shri Siddhartha Nath, Consulate General of India, and Anita Anand, President of the Treasury Board, Deepak Anand MPP, attended the event, highlighting the long-standing relationship between Canada and India built on democracy, friendship, and multiculturalism.
The cultural segment featured exceptional performances, including a parade with floats representing all 28 states of India, showcasing their unique culture and heritage. Parade marshals, including Ms. Canada Earth ’24, Soumya Ahuja, and Mrs. Canada Novacosmo Worldwide 2024, Jasleen Soni, joined the Panorama India float with enthusiasm.
TD Canada Group was the premium sponsor, with other corporate sponsors, including SBI Canada, Sunray Group, ICICI Bank of Canada, SOS Talent Management, and Maharaja Bhog, also supporting the event.
Panorama India, a not-for-profit organization established in 1999, aims to foster a better understanding between India and Canada through cultural exchange. The organization provides a platform for the Indian cultural diaspora to exhibit and showcase their arts and culture, promoting unity in diversity.
