Handi-Care Intl Ontario 150 Celebrations

Ontario 150 Celebrations with children of South Asian origin with special needs.

Toronto (4th November, 2017): Handicare International, a Toronto based charity organization celebrated Ontario 150 on Saturday November 4th at the Sringeri Vidhya Bhavan Foundation (SVBF), Etobicoke  with children of South Asian origin with special needs.

The goal of the event was to build awareness about disability issues, and promote inclusion by showcasing the talents and successes of children with special needs. Karthik Ramalingam, a renowned musician and researcher talked about how children with special needs benefit from music therapy along with demonstration by his own students.

Joining in were children from other charitable institutions like ATI (Annai Thantha Illam) and South Asian Autism Awareness Center (SAAAC) who enthralled the audience with their singing, dance and music. Paintings by Eric Kohlfurst, an young talented artist with special needs on display was almost sold out by the end of the day. The event was truly a reflection of the dedication of the parents and caregivers in nurturing these children and a celebration of their success.

Markham Councillor Nirmala Armstrong was the Guest of Honour and she congratulated Handicare Intl. for it’s 27 year anniversary and commended it’s founder Sulo Krishnamoorthy for her incredible work for children with special needs. Dr. Shafiq Quadri MPP Etobicoke North graced the occasion with his presence and presented the Handicare Team the Ontario regional flag on behalf of Premier Kathlyn Wayne and fellow MPPs.

This event was sponsored by the Govt. of Ontario as part of the Canada 150 celebrations. Admission was free and all the guests enjoyed the South Asian vegetarian dinner that was served. To donate or to know more about Handicare International visit their official website www.handicareintl.org.
