Toronto, on – Production Company, DTRM INC. will premiere the highly anticipated film “Backspot” at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The film stars Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld, Thirteen) as an exacting professional cheerleading coach, and Devery Jacobs (Reservation Dogs) in the role of the formidable Backspot trying to make a positive impression. Executive produced by Elliot Page, Matthew Jordan Smith, J.C. Davidson and Katisha Shaw from DTRM INC., “Backspot” is written/directed by D.W. Waterson (That’s My DJ), and produced by Alona Metzer, D.W. Waterson, Kawennáhere Devery Jacobs and Martin Katz.
DTRM INC. is an innovative film company spearheaded by Katisha (Kat) Shaw, an executive producer seeking out dynamic and groundbreaking new talent, and J.C. Davidson, a veteran producer in the industry. Their recent projects include ‘The Martini Shot’ starring Matthew Modine, John Cleese and Derek Jacobi, ‘Compton Manor’ starring Shawn Roberts, and ‘The Performance.’
For 2024 they are in pre production on a US set thriller and are developing a large scale romantic comedy.

“Backspot” will be distributed by levelFILM in Canada and will subsequently air on Crave and broadcast nationally on the CBC. The film is produced in association with Telefilm Canada, Ontario Creates and the Shaw Rocket Fund. International and US rights to “Backspot” are currently available and are handled by UTA.
