North York, Nov 11, 2023 – The North York Diwali Fest “Festival of Light” held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Mel Lastman Square, North York, was a resounding success. The event attracted a notable array of distinguished guests, including Mayor Olivia Chow, Consulate General of India in Toronto Siddharth Nath, MP Melissa Lantsman from Thornhill, Councillor Lily Cheng from Willowdale, and TDSB Trustee Dr. Pei, elevating the event’s stature.

With an impressive turnout of approximately 12,000 to 15,000 attendees, the festivity captivated audiences with its enchanting musical portrayal of the epic tale of Ramayana. The program showcased a rich diversity of 25 performances, highlighting over 200 artists from diverse cultural backgrounds. Alongside these captivating performances, attendees indulged in a lively marketplace featuring 30 stalls offering delectable cuisine and a variety of small business merchandise.

The event served as a vibrant platform for guests to immerse themselves in cultural heritage, enjoying delicious cuisines, witnessing awe-inspiring performances, and fostering a reconnection with their roots right here in North York.
