Toronto International Dance Festival (TIDF 2022) 9th anniversary with return to in-person performances!

(Toronto, ON – October 01, 2022) – The wait is almost over as the 9th edition of the Toronto International Dance Festival is fast approaching and we are only a few weeks to the big day! Canada’s largest celebration of World Dance Forms on One Stage is happening on Sunday October 23, 2022 at the PC Ho Theater located at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto (5183 Sheppard Ave East in Scarborough). Like previous years, dancers from Canada and beyond will have the opportunity to enjoy and take part in the online festival on October 16th through the festival website www.tidfcanada.com and social media.

Dance enthusiasts can participate in their in-person live-workshops provided in various parts of the GTA simply by registering on their website. All the festival workshop and performances are FREE of cost to you and your family!

Dancing Damsels is excited to announce the return of the biggest dance festival in the city, the Toronto International Dance Festival. The festival will feature a multicultural mix of performances, dance workshops and activities for everyone to indulge. Nearly 350 performers and over 30 dance companies will participate in this week-long festival.

This year’s festival lineup features artists and performers from all over Canada who are ready to showcase their passion for their culture and heritage through their performances.

Performers include Dantitude Dance, Mayura Creations, Nupura School of Music & Dance, Jayeeta Banerjee, Mississauga Chinese Arts Organization(MCAO), Suprita Trilok, The Toronto Thai Dramatic Arts Troupe, Toronto Kathakali School – Rajish Ramankutty, Aj Style Cine Dance Company, Gouri Kundu, Ensemble Topaz, Gauri & Anushree, Elite Chinese Arts Troupe, Sakura Performers, Roosara Dance, DDA Canada, Nirkoda Israeli Dancers of Toronto, SG Expressions, Kamengo Culture Troupe, Serbian Folk Dance Esemble ANIP VEZ, Starz Dance Academy, Groupo Folklorico Tonatiuh, Arshiya Bhan, Carlos Islas and Chakde Canada.
“After 2 years of virtual programming and social isolation we are thrilled tobe back with our live performances at TIDF Canada! This year is extra special with International artists all the way from Uganda; the Kamengo Culture Group, presenting traditional drumming and dances from Africa!Another highlight of the festival is Jarabe Tapatío a Mexican Folklore Workshop by the dance expert Carlos Islas who is here from Mexico.” Mary AshokArtistic Director of TIDF Canada.

About the presenter: Dancing Damsels was started in 2013 with the aim to promote multiculturalism through the performing arts. The organization has expanded to incorporate many programs and activities that focus on community development, inter-cultural understanding and empowerment.
