The Canadian Congress on Inclusive Diversity and Workplace Equity (CCIDWE) launches National Social Justice Action Day

TORONTO, May 18, 2021 – The Canadian Congress on Inclusive Diversity and Workplace Equity (CCIDWE) launches National Social Justice Action Day, Tuesday, May 25, 2021.  The CCIDWE supports & empowers people by the exchange of ideas & strategic training on progressive ways of eliminating systemic racism in the country & transforming the culture of their organizations.  May 25th will mark the one-year anniversary of the killing of George Floyd.  Social Justice Action Day will speak to what took place on that day and what has taken place across the country since the video that changed the world. social justice advocates, community activists, diversity consultants, community, corporate, religious, academic, and political leaders come together.Numbers ofhate crimes have increased in other communities, Asian, Jewish, and Indigenous. It is time to gather to discuss the way forward.   

Social Justice Action Day will bring together a lineup of exceptional speakers …Hon. Dr. Jean Augustine,  Dr. Wendy Cukier, one of Canada’s leading experts in diversity & inclusion, founder and academic director of Diversity Institute at Ryerson University, Alex Ihama, executive director Canadian Congress on Inclusive Diversity and Workplace Equity, Kirk Mark, recipient of the African Canadian Achievement Award for Excellence in Education, Pauline Christian, business owner in the residential healthcare retirement industry & former president of BBPA, Courtney Betty LLB, former Crown Attorney at the Department of Justice Canada, currently leading a $900 million class-action lawsuit against the government of Canada on behalf of over 500 Black federal employees and Mark Saunders, former Toronto Police Chief and newly appointed Special Advisor of the renewal project for Ontario Place.  The former Police Chief will deliver a lecture on Uniting the Police and the People: The Way Forward. 

Social Justice Action Day speakers will include… The Mayor of Mississauga, Bonnie Crombie, Mayor of Brampton, Patrick Brown, Deputy Mayor of Shelburne, Steve Anderson, Paul Jones, celebrity sportscaster with the Raptors, Dr. Francis Mpindu, police Chaplin and author of Community Policing, entrepreneur & motivational speaker, Garnett Genuis, Leslie Mcgill the CEO of MedicAlert Member of Parliament for Sherwood Park—Fort Saskatchewan, who brings greetings on behalf of Hon. Erin O’Toole, Leader of the Opposition Party and Orlando Brown, former Toronto Argonaut linebacker, motivational speaker & a police brutality survivor. 

**Performing artists will include, award winning spoken word artist, Dwayne Morgan & Juno award winner, Liberty Silver.   

The CCIDWE is asking the Federal Government to declare a clear measurable, and accountable strategic plan to end racism in the country and declare May 25, Social Justice Action Day in Canada.
