Panorama India to Celebrate INDIA’S 72nd Republic Day VIRTUALLY on January 31st, 2021

 Toronto, January 11th, 2021: Panorama India, with the support of the Consulate General of India, Toronto, will be virtually celebrating India’s 72nd Republic Day on Sunday, January 31st, 2021, featuring over 8 hours of cultural and celebratory programming. Panorama India is proud to announce this year our celebrity judge for the 12th annual Panorama Idol will be Mrs. Kavita Krishnamurti Subramanium presented by SBI Canada Bank. 

To add to the grandeur of the event, the highlight headline segment “Two Legends One Night” featuring an exclusive chat with the power couple from the world of music and art Mrs. Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam and Dr. L Subramaniam. 

“The Republic Day celebration is important as its our community’s celebration. We have artists performing across GTA and some across Canada, over 45 community organizations are engaged in the folk dance and other segments. For the first time we have a very special segment where our seniors are participating in the celebrations. Panorama India has gone fully digital and I am so grateful for the response from the community. We work hard to ensure most, if not all, states and languages are represented during the celebration,” said chairperson Sumeeta Kohli. 

The event kicks off with opening ceremony and patriotic programming at 11:00 AM on Sunday January 31, 2021. This year there is over 8 hours of programming showcasing the Folk Dance Segment representing various states of India, a new segment ‘Seniors’ Spotlight’, Panorama Idol 2021 Grand Finale where the top 3 adult and the top 3 Junior artists compete in front of our esteemed panel of judges. The free event also features a special talk show – Two Legends, One Night – with Bollywood playback singer Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam and world-renowned Violinist, Dr. L Subramaniam in conversation with Panorama India Chair, Sumeeta Kohli. 

The entire event will be conceptualized and materialized by adhering to the current COVID-19 guidelines and regulations laid by the provincial government and it is expected to be one of the significant Indian cultural programs celebrated virtually outside of India. 

Community engagement is a very important element this year so despite the event being digital all can feel involved and engage. This year the community can vote as participate as the 4rth judge for the Panorama Idol Competition. Panorama Idol will air both on Saturday January 30, 2021 and Sunday January 31, 2021 during the Republic Day celebration. The voting lines will open at 12pm on Saturday and close on Sunday 3pm so everyone can vote and show their support. 

“This year Panorama India is pleased to host its first ever live digital art competition. Kids ranging from kindergarten to teenagers can participate. All must register by January 20 and then on the Saturday January 30 there will be a live digital contest held for each group. It is exciting as it’s a way for young kids can participate in the celebrations” said Vaidehi Bhagat, executive director of community relations and sponsorship. 

Anusha Iyer, Panorama India’s Director of Programming said, “We have had an overwhelming response from our community. We have over 100 plus artists performing in our segments and many Indian states are represented in our Folk-Dance segment.”
