We live in an age where pollution, climate change, deforestation, landfills and strange new diseases and irreversible health conditions are nothing but ‘normal’. Many are aware of the dangers of the situation but not everyone actually work towards correcting the scenario.

Mankind has plundered the Earth so much that we now fear that future generations may inherit a planet with limited water resources and unlimited non-recyclable waste landfills and garbage islands floating on the seas, rather than one of deep forests and rich flora and fauna. Climate changes have brought in unprecedented floods and droughts around the world.

AVANI is an attempt to visualise this journey of mankind, from the resource-rich state of the Earth to its devastation and how they attempt to reclaim what is lost. It is an offering of love to Mother Earth presented through the idiom of Bharatanatyam, an Indian classical dance form which has an antiquity of over 2500 years.

AVANI is being presented by NUPURA CREATIONS, an art organization of GTA headed by Gayathridevi Vijayakumar.  Gayathridevi Vijayakumar is a well known personality in the art and cultural scenario of GTA. She has received many awards and honors for her services in this field, latest of which is the prestigious Waterfront Magazine Awards 2019. AVANI is her dream project and this is a very unique production.

It has been conceived and choreographed by renowned Indian dancer-choreographer Aswathy V Nair who has been doing many such productions in India as well as many foreign countries including the USA. She is the daughter of renowned dancer Kalamandalam Saraswathy and legendary Malayalam writer-filmmaker M. T. Vasudevan Nair , and the recipient of Kerala State Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards 2019.
